Vase by Charlotte McLeish: Volcanic Ash Mix
Made in London
Having originally trained as a jeweller McLeish moved to London to study ceramic design at the Central Saint Martins. During her time there she became fascinated by clay as a medium and enjoyed exploring different mixes of clays and the qualities they offer. This is something that is still an important part of her ceramic practice today. Each piece is hand thrown with subtle glaze applied adding nice layers of texture, making each piece completely unique.
This particular vase was made with clay mixed with volcanic stone which reacts with the glaze on the surface and gives this copper looking stain.
